HAZCHEM GUIDE
The Dangerous Substance (Conveyance by Road in Road Tankers and Tank Containers) Regulations 1981 (more commonly known as the UK Tankers Regs), were revised in 1992 to become The Road Traffic (Carriage of Dangerous Substances in Road Tankers and Tank Containers) Regulations 1992.
One of the new requirements of the Regulation is that a Hazchem Placard must be shown on the front as well as the rear of a tanker when carrying any of

A - Emergency action code
B - Substance identification number
C - Hazard warning sign
D - Specialist advice
E - Company logo (optional)
Emergency Action Code
1 = jets
2 = Fog. In the absence of fog equipment a fine spray may be used
3 = Foam
4 = Dry agent. Water must not be allowed to come into contact with the substance at risk
